the cost of entertainment

last week we went to see the 'frost - nixon' play at the state theater in minneapolis. oh it's a majestic theater nicely reconditioned and filled with memories of movies i saw there as a teen ager. stacy keach was a very good nixon- but there was a little to much of the pose with peace signs on both hands saying i am not a crook. the tix are hella expensive- part of a season ticket package. anyway i fell a sleep about 20 minutes into the play and slept through it.
evelyn confirmed for me that the play didn't get any better- a lot about how much research and preparation work the frost staff did prior to the interview with nixon.
yawn
it is making me tired again. i could have gotten a select comfort bed at the nicollet island inn for the cost of our tix and had a vertical nap experience. oh well we have tix with friends and that makes the evening.

then last night i went to grandson's music class. he is 14 months-
about 7 kids with their parents and gosh it was fun
watching the kids play percussion, dance, feel the beat, try the tunes
it was so fun
a wonderful teacher and she just let the kids experience the music at their
age and experience level. i hope i can go again. by the way the cost was zilch
well kristina had to pay for the class but i paid zilch
and was never even tempted to yawn much less snooze.

being a grandparent is so cool and such a privlege. johan rules

snow and snow

it is such a silly state to live in-minnesota
the snow is not fun or funny
it is white so big deal- it is also cold and slippery
and heavy (to shovel) and bland
it is sickening to look and see white punctuated by a few
leaveless trees
oh but watching the cars spin out--hold on,
that is not cool

seems like i ought to be double delighted to go to south america
next week but i have been following the temperature there and it is
high 80s in chile
yawn
that is too hot
i guess i am whining but isn't it ever just right?

well 65 to 80 is just right
not too much humidity
and the colors of life- green leaves, vibrant colored flowers
and green ground cover

good luck-i hear that antarctica has NONE of the above
well, it is an adventure

well i have had 1 reader-noy bad considering
the christmas holiday is over-in a way-
it sort of blurs into new year and the NFL finishes
the regular season. it makes it hard to take much else
serious.
we had a wonderful evening the e and s down for dinner
at fogo de chao and then the t-wolves. well we were pretty
near courtside-a few rows back and the language is cleaned up
quite a bit but the play? yikes they need help
the wolves are lame
i am celebrating spring as the days are now getting longer. winter is
over on my calendar and the count down to summer is so underway.
next week will be fun at the club as all the resolution people show up-
good for them, it may be the year that they learn the wonder of
daily endorphin loading
i am so excited for my little johan to get home and so is his
dog bergen. johan is probably missing grandma the most but i will
work on that once he is old enough to unerstand bribery

ok
here it is. i never expected to blog but i have read several.
i am going to antarctica and someone suggested a blog about it
so it shall be.

i set this up by myself-with a little help from google so i am off
to the races. we fly to santiago chile and then cruise around cape horn
and to the 7th continent-then up to rio. yikes it won't be long now
i think we leave 22nd of january.
what do i pack? no idea. it's summer in south america but what the heck
does summer mean in antarctica?
see you didn't even know that you didn't know.

i am going to bring norwegian flags with the display from the veranda
and 'plant' on a glacier. we'll see about pictures.
